Baglan 1 - 4 Glenwood
- In the UCL cup quarter finals, Baglan were
knocked out by Division 1 leaders Glenwood. It was a brave performance from the
Baglan lads but they were on the back foot for most of the game and were unable
to produce the magic to take them through to the semi finals. Glenwood had 2
disallowed goals and 2 penalties awarded to them within the first 20 minutes of
the game and looked comfortable throughout. A piece of individual brilliance
from Baglan's Rod Singh, got the only goal for the yellow shirts.
Baglan 2 - 3 Penarth
- After a poor performance, some very windy
weather conditions and some controversy, Baglan lost their first match in 7
games away to Penarth in Cardiff. Scott Stimson scored a cracking first half
goal for Baglan and Chris Parry netted from the penalty spot in the second half.
Baglan will be eagerly anticipating the return tie in their own back yard and
their players are sure to be fired up for it.
Baglan 1 - 1 Rhondda Royals
- Baglan draw 1-1
with unbeaten league leaders Rhondda Royals after a more than committed
performance. Steffan Rogers scoring on his debut for Baglan cancelled out an
earlier own goal. Every Baglan player gave 100% effort and it was their best
performance to date. Thanks to Rhondda Royals as well who made it a great game.
Baglan 4 - 2 Koinonia -
A Chris Parry hat trick sealed all 3 points for Baglan in
this game. Baglan are now unbeaten in five games and have won their last three
games. Some lovely Arsenal like flowing counter attacks were on display from a
confident Baglan side today, who made hard work of the game by blowing a 2-0
lead. Baglan welcome top of the league Rhondda Royals next week and will hope
for a better result and performance than the last time these two sides met.
Baglan 2 - 0
Pontypridd - In a scrappy game on a windy day
at Western Avenue, Baglan tried to get the ball down and play some nice
football. A cracking first half penalty save from Baglan keeper Mike Clarke
spurred on Baglan to a 2-0 victory over Pontypridd. Both goals came from headers
from Chris Parry corners scored by Dai Singh and Christian Lloyd respectively.
Baglan will look for another win next week to build confidence for their quarter
final cup tie.
Baglan 2 - 1
SUCU - Baglan picked up their first win in 6
games with a 2-1 victory over SUCU at Ashleigh Road today. Nick Jones put Baglan
ahead in the middle of the first half, turning in a shot from Rod Singh that had
hit the post. After a relatively comfortable first half for Baglan, they found
themselves on the receiving end of a soft penalty decision early on in the
second half. Baglan keeper Mike Clarke got his hand to the penalty but was
unable to keep it out of the net, making the score 1-1. The rest of the second
half was evenly fought out with both sides creating clear cut chances but not
converting them. Eventually Scott Stimson turned in a Chris Parry flick on to
win the game for Baglan, 2-1. A highly enjoyable game and SUCU were a fantastic
bunch of friendly lads to play against.
Baglan
1 - 1 Mount Pleasant - Baglan
took the lead in the 75th minute after being on the back foot for most of the
game but defending extremely well. An excellent through ball was calmly slotted
home by Baglan front man Scott Stimson. Baglan managed to hold firm for another
10 minutes but unfortunately conceded an own goal with 5 minutes remaining. With
both teams seemingly happy to take a draw, the remaining 5 minutes was tediously
played out for a 1-1 draw.
Baglan 4 - 4
Real Rhondda - In a closely fought game against
an improved Real Rhondda side, Baglan drew 4-4 and took away a point. Baglan
were leading 4-2 at one stage in the game and will be disappointed to have been
pegged back. Chris Parry and Nick Jones both scored 2 goals each for Baglan.
Baglan were unlucky not to win the game after hitting the crossbar 3 times
during the game. Real Rhondda were a great bunch of lads and it was an enjoyable
game.
Baglan 5 - 6 Brackla
- In a highly competitive game, Brackla sneaked
away with a 6-5 victory. The scoring went 2-0 to Brackla, 2-2, 3-2 to Brackla,
3-3, 5-3 to Brackla, 5-5, 6-5 to Brackla. Baglan never lead in the game and will
rue missed chances as they created many goal scoring opportunities. A 40 yard
chest and volley from Baglan Captain Rhys Williams was the highlight of the
match. This match was definitely one for the fans.
Baglan 2 - 2 ABC Ammanford
- On a freezing cold and windy day at Western
Avenue, Baglan and ABC battled out a 2-2 draw in the UCL Cup. Baglan took the
lead in the first half with a long range free kick from Liam Edwards. ABC
rallied in the second half and took a 2-1 lead. With 8 minutes left on the
clock, Christian Lloyd headed in a corner taken by Chris Parry to tie the game.
This draw meant that Baglan won their cup group and progressed to the quarter
finals.
Baglan P - P Penarth Vale
- Due to a waterlogged pitch, the game between
Baglan and Penarth Vale has been postponed. This game will be re-arranged for
later on in the season.
Baglan A - A Gendros -
Due to Gendros 1st's suspension from the UCL league until the end of the
2007/2008 season , the cup result between themselves and Baglan has been
annulled.
Baglan
1 - 10 Rhondda Royals - Baglan
suffered a crushing away defeat against a first class Rhondda Royals side that
will undoubtedly win the league this season and probably go undefeated. Rod
Singh scored the consolation goal for Baglan. Baglan travel away to face 1st
Division leaders Gendros in the cup next week in which should prove an even
tougher game.
Baglan 8 - 1
Koinonia - A first class performance from
Baglan CC FC saw them thrash Koinonia 8-1 at Western Avenue. Nick Jones netted 4
neat goals with some quality finishing and Jon Parry, Christian Lloyd, Neil
Tallamy and Liam 'The Legend' all scored 1 goal each. Baglan are now unbeaten in
8 games in all competitions and have only lost once in their last 14 games.
Baglan face their toughest game of the season (so far)
next week when they face the unbeaten Rhondda Royals away from home.
Baglan 1- 1 Pontypridd
- In a game which could have gone either way,
both teams ended up picking up a point in a 1-1 draw. Baglan hit the bar twice
in the first half before Ponty took the lead early in the second. An equaliser
fifteen minutes from time from Rod Singh saw the game finish all square.
Baglan 5 - 1 SUCU
- An improvement from the week before saw Baglan
beat SUCU 5-1 in the Cup. Scott and Christian both scored braces and
unbelievably Liam "The Legend" Edwards scored his first goal for the club. Two
wins out of two now for Baglan in the cup and they will be confident of
progressing to the quarter finals.
Baglan 5 - 3 SUCU
- In a closely contested game, Baglan managed to
take all 3 points. SUCU took the lead before Baglan hit back with 2 quick goals
and then another before half time. SUCU pegged another goal back half way
through the 2nd half making the score 3-2. Baglan added a 4th and then a 5th
before SUCU scored a consolation goal late on. Baglan also missed a penalty.
Baglan will be happy to take the 3 points but will feel they should have perhaps
score a few more goals.
Baglan 2 - 2 Mount Pleasant
- On a good pitch at Ashleigh Road, Baglan
recorded their second consecutive draw in the league. Mount went 1-0 up before
they were pegged back by a Chris Lloyd header. Mount then took the lead again
before Nick Jones ghosted in at the back post and smartly finished a Chris Lloyd
cross to tie the game once more. Ex Baglan player Andrew Stilwell debuted for
Mount in this game.
Baglan 1 - 1 Inter Aberdare
- A poor performance from Baglan saw them scrape
a point against an under strength Inter Aberdare side. Baglan took the lead
early in the second half with a wonderful goal from top scorer Chris Parry. He
took on 3 of Inter's players before curling a magnificent strike into the top
right corner. From this point on Inter created a number of good opportunities
before finally equalising with 8 minutes left to play. The game finished 1-1.
Baglan 3 - 0 Koinonia
-Baglan got their cup campaign up and
running with a 3-0 victory over Koinonia. Goals from Christian, Parry and Scott
rounded up the scoring on the day. Koinonia will feel that they deserved
something out of the game and they probably did. Baglan's first ever clean sheet
in a competitive match was one positive to take from this game.
Baglan Team Photo
- Here is a team photo of Baglan for the
2007/2008 season. Player names can be found in the gallery section of the site.
Real Rhondda 2 - 3 Baglan
- An average performance from Baglan saw them run
out 3-2 victors over Real Rhondda. Baglan will feel that they deserved a couple
more goals after some questionable refereeing saw Baglan have 2 goals chalked
off for offside. Chris Parry scoring another brace and Nick Jones grabbing the
other goal.
Baglan 6 - 3 Gendros 2nd's -
Baglan bounced back from their 1-0
defeat last week to record an impressive 6-3 victory over fellow promotion
contenders Gendros 2nd's. Chris Lloyd, Chris Parry and Rod Singh all scored
braces to give Baglan their first 3 league points of the season.
Brackla 1 - 0 Baglan -
In a game of few chances Brackla just
managed to edge out Baglan 1-0 in their first league game of the UCL 07/08
season. Both teams will feel disappointed with their performance but will hope
to step up their game in the coming weeks.
2 Clean Sheets -
Baglan's first ever clean sheet came in a 5-0
friendly win over Koinonia at home. They followed this up with another clean
sheet and a 1-0 friendly win over NCC away from home to conclude their
pre-season friendlies.
Baglan 8 - 3 Gendros -
Baglan's third friendly of the 07/08

turned the screw and took the tempo of the game up a notch to score 5 goals in
the last 10 minutes and beat Gendros 8-3. Scott scoring 4, Parry 2, Nick 1 and
Andrew 1.
